Updating mid-century homes
Older Garner homes often have wood paneling, dated colors, plaster or early drywall, and original trim and doors. A full interior painting job, including painting over paneling the right way with cleaning, scuffing and a bonding primer, can make the whole house feel new. Cracked walls and ceilings are fixed through our drywall work first so the paint goes on smooth.
Homes of this age may have lead-based paint under newer coats, and popcorn ceilings from this era can contain asbestos. We talk about testing before anything gets sanded or scraped.
Brick houses still need paint
A brick ranch looks low-maintenance, but its wood trim, fascia, soffits, porch posts and window frames still take the weather. In Garner, rotted fascia boards and soffits are a common find, usually from overflowing gutters. We replace rotted sections through our carpentry work, then prime and paint them with the rest of the trim.
Some owners want to paint the brick itself for a more modern look. We can do it, but we'll be honest that it's a long-term commitment, because painted brick needs repainting from then on.
Newer homes south of town
Neighborhoods closer to Lake Benson Park and off Timber Drive and NC 50 are newer, with vinyl and fiber cement siding and HOA guidelines. There we usually do exterior painting for trim, doors and fiber cement, replace storm-damaged panels through our siding work, and clean mildew and pollen with power washing.
Bathrooms and kitchens
Many Garner homes still have original bathroom tile. Instead of tearing it all out, micro cement can often be applied right over solid tile for a seamless, modern shower or floor. For bigger changes, our remodeling work handles everything from demo to final paint with one crew.
Getting a Garner home ready to sell
Garner's location close to downtown Raleigh makes it popular with buyers, and first impressions matter. Before listing, the projects that usually pay off are simple: fresh neutral paint in the main rooms, a clean and freshly painted front door and trim, rotted wood replaced, the siding and walkway washed, and nail holes and cracks patched. We'll walk the house with you and help you focus on what buyers will actually notice, not a long list of extras.
